  The inactive website is http://www.1.com.my and I wanted to use it’s name. By the way I currently have no websites.

  Hi there.

  1.com.my is a custom domain. This means someone paid a domain registrar to register that domain, and they legally own it for as long as they continue paying for it. Whether or not they use it isn’t relevant – they own it, and as long as they own it, no one but them can use it.

  I this case the domain appears to belong to the .my registry itself, https://mynic.my/. You can try contacting them directly to ask if they’d be willing to sell that domain to you, but if it’s a domain that has been reserved for use by the registry themselves, that’s unlikely.

  Also keep in mind that to use a .my domain, you must have a presence within Malaysia, i.e. you must either be a citizen/resident of that country, or represent a business located there.
