exerpts display

  i am using a theme in my site that, when i to the categories, the site shows me full length posts. I would like only to show a small exerpt and a thumnail picture.
  Does anyone wht code sould i paste, ande where should i paste it. I am guessing y should modify theme functions.php, bue i am cluless really.

  These blog posts explains about excerpts here and what can be done with what themes. It is theme dependent and was the theme designer’s choice.

  We cannot edit the underlying theme files here at wordpress.COM because this is a multi-user platform which means we all share the same underlying theme and wordpress files. Any change by one person would change it for everyone using that theme.
