  Hi, I own a domain and would like to build a website with WordPress. Can I use the free version to start?

  Yes you can use the free version to start. The free plan gives you a domain name with the subdomain .wordpress.com

  Don’t use your current domain name with the free plan.

  When you are ready you can transfer or map your current domain to WordPress.com at anytime

  You do need a paid plan to be able to use your current domain on WordPress.com
