Existing Domain name and Hosting
-
I already have a domain name and hosting through go daddy.com and wanted to know what the procedure was for keeping the same domain name and hosting for the website I created through wordpress. I dont understand all the technical stuff too well. (my domain name is http://www.lynnenewton.com)
I followed the instructions for “mapping a existing domain” but I am not sure if that was the correct thing to do. Please help!
Thank you,
Lynne Newton

These are the instructions: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
But I am not domain mapping for lynnenewton.com – did you go all the way to the end and also pay the $ 13?
In case your mapping failed I will also flag this for staff attention

I want to keep http://www.lynnenewton.com and delete lynnenewton.wordpress.com
When I followed the instructions for mapping an existing domain; I went to the godaddy website under my account and changed the nameservers as instructed. Is that what I was supposed to do? If so, do I still have to pay 13.00 per year even though I already have hosting through go daddy?

DON’T DELETE ANYTHING – once the WordPress.COM the content and the name is gone forever
Your domain name is registered with Godaddy – you can host on Godaddy but it will cost you more money – also you need to transfer the content from WordPress.COM to your blog on Godaddy and you need to install the WordPress.ORG software on your Godaddy web site.
You can map your domain name to your lynnenewton.wordpress.com blog here if you want.
You are asking about two different things –
