existing domain name/suggestion for good theme for business
-
Hi,
I am new to building a website.
I am trying to find a theme for my startup law practice. I have two questions..I already purchased a domain name from dreamhost…jaworskilegal.com. I would like to change it to cjawlaw.com. It is shorter. I think I need to do that thru dreamhost.com, unless you guys have a better/cheaper alternative. My question… how can I use my existing domain name?
Can you direct me to a theme that is not a blog. I have tried a couple of themes, and the text boxes are great for blogs but not a legal/business setup. My web designer bailed on me, but I think I can do this myself! TX Christine
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

My question… how can I use my existing domain name?
You must first register a .wordpress.com blog URL in order to be able to map from it to your domain URL. Are you clear on that?
If you would like to use your domain name and map to from your free hosted wordpress.com blog to it then you will first need to set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. A website is a page based site designed to operate as a one way means of communication ie. a noticeboard.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based, but let’s put that aside for the moment. Understand that what attracts search engines is unique content the cannot be found anywhere else on the internet and that content is found in POST based structures. Please read this entry > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
On one hand, none of the characteristic “blog” features like categories, tags, authors, dates, etc. can be removed from a free hosted WordPress.com blog, without purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade and doing the required CSS editing.
