    How do I open an existing website that was done in WordPress and is locally on my hard drive?

    Hi,

    This will majorly depend on how you created the files or backed up the WordPress site that you have on your computer. Did you use the WordPress export tool or a plugin such as
    All-in-One WP Migration?

    In either case, you will want to start by making a local WordPress installation on your computer, I’d recommend downloading and installing Local by Flywheel. This is what will create the ‘environment’ that will help you show the WordPress site locally on your computer. Once you’ve installed this:

    • You can either import the backup of your site if you used WordPress export
    • If not, just install the same plugin you used to backup your site and import with it.

    Hope this helps, but be sure to write back if you have more details that would help other members/staff understand the nature of the site you have on your hard drive or how you created it.

    Hi there @jamalfa for support with a local host install of the WP software, you’ll want to head over to the support forums for that software at https://wordpress.org/support/ where you’ll find documentation and users who have more experience with the software you are using. If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on the top of that page.
