Expand picture to fill column

    When I put a photo in my post, they always are on the left side, and only cover half the column. I want my photo to be centered on the column and fill it (or nearly so).

    I have tried re-sizing the picture on my PC, then uploading the enlarged version and putting it on my post. WordPress simply shrinks it back to the original size.

    Is it possible to adjust where the photo appears (center, right) and how large it is?
