Experiencing "redirect loop"

  • Unknown's avatar

I have followed all the directions regarding how to identify/correct a redirect loop, but I’m still getting this in Chrome.

I am trying to redirect my GoDaddy domain name (listed above) to my WordPress site: villageofaurorafarmersmarket.wordpress.com.

I have tried clearing caches/cookies and forcing refreshes, but I continue to get this error message.

    Help?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Non-WordPress.com Nameservers
Although auroranyfarmersmarket.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.

WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible. Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.

If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

I did purchase the domain mapping capability and I followed the directions for redirecting the GoDaddy URL name servers to WordPress. The GoDaddy site didn’t express any problems with that change, which I did several days ago.

    I’m still stumped.

I am still without a functioning website – just getting “redirect loop” error messages.

I have done everything I know how to do…
I purchased the domain mapping for the URL.
I changed the GoDaddy nameservers to the three WordPress nameservers.

Please help me figure out the problem here!!!

    Hi @marianbrown0811,

It looks like you’re all set as far as the settings on WordPress.com’s end. However, the name servers for the domain, auroranyfarmersmarket.com are currently pointing to GoDaddy’s name servers ( ns03.domaincontrol.com ns04.domaincontrol.com) and not WordPress.com. [whois link]

You will need to log into your GoDaddy account and set the name servers to:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
