Hello! My domain expired and I can’t seem to find a way to get it back: http://www.muylila.com. Is there something I can do?

Hi,
Your domain hasn’t expired, but the domain mapping upgrade or your paid plan has. You should be able to re-add it by following the instructions on the domain mapping page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/ -
Hello! Is this a new thing? I don’t remember setting this up. The only plans I see are for spam and backups, etc.
The instructions you send seem to apply only for WordPress hosted sites, which is not my case. Is there a way I can transfer my domain to another registrar? Im a bit lost and my site is still down.
Thanx,

Where do you host your site? Did you recently move away from WordPress.com to a different host?
When I look it up with with WHOIS it shows the nameservers are NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM and when I go to your domain it takes me to a page on a WordPress server that says you need to enable domain mapping.
This page tells you how to transfer the domain to a different registrar:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/ -
The domain no longer shows in my account and that is why I thought the domain expired.
When I log in to my account I have three sites, two of them are:
– muylila.wordpress.com (WordPress hosted)
– muylila.com (Linode hosted)When I try to access the Domain tab for muylila.com I get the following message: “Domains are not available for this site.
You can only purchase domains for sites hosted on WordPress.com at this time.”Initially I bought the domain (muylila.com) and directed it to the WordPress hosted site. After that I hired someone to build a proper website and redirected muylila.com to Linode, that was a couple of years ago. Everything was OK until this Sunday.
Thanks so much for your help.

I’ve added “modlook” to the tags in the right column of this page to bring it to WordPress.com staff attention. They should be able to help you get access to it again or update the nameservers.
It sounds to me like your nameservers somehow reverted back to the wordpress.com ones, but if you can’t even see the domain in your dashboard then any instructions I give to change them back won’t be useful.

The domain, muylila.com, expired on 27 July, and was removed from our systema few days ago because you didn’t renew it.
It is still possible to restore the domain to your account at this point, but there is a $80 recovery fee in addition to the renewal fee for the domain to do this. Let me know if you agree to that fee and I can get the process started to recover your domain.
You other option is to wait for our registrar to release the domain, but that can take up to two more months and they might even sell it at private auction in which case it won’t be released again at all.

I’ve just emailed you a link you can use to pay for the domain recovery. Let me know if you didn’t receive it.
Once you pay I will be notified and will then contact our registrar to get the domain back. If the recovery fails your payment will be refunded in full.

We’ve received your payment and contacted the registrar to restore the domain. I’ll let you know once I hear back from them.

Good news, your domain has been restored and is active on your account again. I checked and it’s showing your site for me, so everything appears to be working.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
