Expired domain
-
Hi, I’m hoping you can help me. My domain jayaptephotography.com has expired and I wanted to request whether you could activate it for just a week or so allowing me to move it please. I live in Australia and is more convenient for me to pay in AUD and therefore need to move it to a local domain provider. Hope you can understand my situation and can help me out. Thanks heaps!

Hi, thanks for that. Yeah I read this last night before posting. I’m new to this so hoping I can just move my domain so I can keep it active going forward.

Hi there,
My domain jayaptephotography.com has expired and I wanted to request whether you could activate it for just a week or so allowing me to move it please.
I’m afraid that is not possible at all with domains. When you register a domain, our registrar pays a fee to the domain registry that controls the domain which gives you ownership of the domain for a year.
When the domain expires our registrar keeps it on hold for a few days in case you still want to renew it, and then it goes through a process of a few weeks called Redemption, before it is returned to the domain registry for anyone to register again. The moment redemption starts you are no longer the owner of the domain.
Your domain is currently in this redemption phase. The only way to get the domain back at this stage is if we ask the registrar to restore it, and they charge a $80 fee to do that. I’ll need you to agree to this fee before I can get the process started.
Once the domain is restored and renewed I can change the settings in your account so you can pay in AUD going forward instead. But the payment to recover your domain will need to be in US$, as we can’t switch currencies for that particular payment.
