Hello!
You can find instructions to register a new domain here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/register-domain/
You’ll need to have an upgraded WordPress.com plan to do so; all plans come with a free domain. See WordPress.com Plans and Pricing for more details.
Additionally, if you buy a domain elsewhere, you can transfer it to WordPress.com [https://support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/] or map your domain to point to your WordPress.com site [https://support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain].
Hope this helps! 🙂

Sorry, those links again:

Hi and thanks,
This doesn’t help though, as the domain I want is currently in it’s redemption period. I keep getting told to contact support but keep getting sent here.
Any help kindly appreciated.

Oh, I see!
Per Renewing a domain in the Redemption Period:
Depending on the type of domain and when it was registered you might be able to redeem it yourself. If your domain has that option it will still appear under your account Purchases after it enters redemption, and clicking the Renew Now button will cause the redemption fee of $80 to be added to the cart automatically. You will not be able to renew the domain without paying that additional fee.
If your domain does not offer the option to redeem it yourself it will be removed from your account when it enters the Redemption Period. In that case, please contact support for help redeeming the domain, and we will send you a link to make the required payment so we can recover the domain.
Does your domain still have the option to renew on your Purchases page? (Note the redemption fee of $80.)

Got it. I’ll tag this thread with modlook to get the attention of a staff member. They should be able to help you! 🙂

Hi there,
Our records show that your domain unlikelytrader.com expired and it’s now in redemption.
Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order.
You can learn more about domain expiration here:
However, the good news is that we may still be able to recover your domain if it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else.
A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one that we can waive.
For that, I have already emailed you a payment request. Please reply back if you have submitted the payment so that we can begin the recovery process.
If we are unable to recover your domain, your payment will be refunded. If you do not wish to pay the $80 fee, you may let the domain expiration process continue and attempt to register the domain again at the regular price, once it has completely expired.

Thank you for your payment. I have started the recovery process and I’ll let you know as soon as your domain is restored.
