expired domain

  Hi,
  I had earlier bought a domain (aflavoursomelife.com) from wordpress.com, but it recently expired. I wish to renew the domain now, but it’s not there in my purchases, and on trying to register it as a new domain, it shows up as not available. How do I renew or transfer this domain?

  Hi himalicheli,

  If you are not seeing the domain you have bought in the Purchases page, it most probably is because you are not logged in to the account that was used to purchase that domain.

  Do you remember any other account that you might have used with this transaction before?

  Your domain expired back in October and is now in the redemption period. https://www.whois.com/whois/aflavoursomelife.com

  In addition to the regular domain renewal fee, the registrar charges an $80 fee to get that back for you. Would you like staff to proceed to try to get that domain back? I’ll tag this with modlook, since time is of the essence here.

  Hi –

  I will do my best to recover this domain for you. It’s a bit out of our hands once it reaches the redemption phase of the cancellation process. In order to recover it, we need the help of our domain partner.

  To recover the domain, they charge an $80 fee. That’s in addition to your yearly renewal (which was not paid) of $26. That makes the total fee $106.

  Before we proceed, I need confirmation that you’ll agree to make that payment. We can’t offer any reduction in fees. Write back to me here to let us know if you’ll agree to that fee.

  Once we hear back we will contact our domain partner regarding the domain redemption, we will also send you a payment form at that time. It typically takes 2-3 days for us to hear back from them about the status.

  Hi himalicheli,

  I’m afraid aflavoursomelife.com wasn’t renewed in time and has now been cancelled. It was possible to recover the domain for some weeks after it expired but this is no longer possible due to length of time that has passed.

  If a domain is not redeemed by the original registrant and is not purchased at auction, it is usually then returned to the pool of available domain names and can be registered again on a first-come, first-served basis.

  I’m unable to give you an exact timeframe, so I recommend you keep checking to if the domain has become available again as we don’t receive a notification when this happens.
