Expired domain
-
Can you help renew a domain that I’ve allowed to expire? I believe that even the redemption period is well passed, but it’s kind of obscure and no one else has claimed it:
indefensiblepublishing.com
Thank you

When exactly did you let it expire? That domain was registered in June 2019. Perhaps someone else now owns that particular domain?
Domain Name: INDEFENSIBLEPUBLISHING.COM
Creation Date: 2019-06-03
Registrar WHOIS Server: whois.webnic.cc
Name Server: NS1.EZYDOMAIN.COM

Hi and thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, it appears that someone else has registered it. I’d assumed that webnic.cc was some sort of registrar operating on behalf of WordPress.
I don’t know who they are then. If they’re squatting the name they don’t appear to be actively trying to monetise it.
I really appreciate the help.

Quick update – webnic.cc is in fact the registrar operating for WordPress.
Could someone help me through the process of recovering the domain?
Thanks in advance,
Drew

Hi Drew,
webnic.cc is not one of the domain providers we use, and we have no affiliation with that service at all.
indefensiblepublishing.com is not currently registered with WordPress.com.
It used to be registered with us, but it expired in February 2019 and was removed from our system on 26 March 2019. It then went through a 30-day redemption process before it was deleted at the registry and released.
Based on the Whois information, someone then registered that domain with webnic.cc on 3 July 2019. If that wasn’t you, it means someone else now owns that domain, and the only way you’ll be able to get that domain back is if the current owner is willing to sell it back to you.
But we haven’t had any control over that domain since March last year, so there’s nothing more we can do to help here.

Hi Kokkeih,
Thanks very much for that. I leapt to the wrong conclusion when I saw that webnic performs this service for other domain resellers. Unfortunately this appears to mean that it’s impossible to find out who has the domain, now, as they’re not using it for anything.
I really appreciate your time.
Drew
