Expired Domain
-
Hello…our domain should have been active for another month, but it was canceled and we don’t have access to it to go ahead and renew it or transfer it to another registrar.
Customer service seems nonexistent for WordPress. Can someone please point us in the right direction to fix this? -
Hi there,
Are you speaking of csm-accounting.com?
Your account cancelled that domain two days ago on 30 April, along with the Premium Plan which gave you access to live chat support, and we’ve issued a full refund for the recent renewal payment. You can see receipts for both the renewal and the refund in your billing history at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing/
A domain renewal cannot be refunded without cancelling the domain, so in order to restore the domain to your account we’ll need you to pay the renewal fee again, and after the domain is restored it will be valid until May 2021. Please confirm if you want to restore that domain, and I’ll send you a link to pay for the renewal again.

Please explain why the billing was through the end of May for the renewal if it renewed for one year. The timeframe and math doesn’t add up.
The domain and theme/hosting was lumped into one invoice not giving us the opportunity to renew just the domain.
We understand that you are just following protocol, but it seems extremely slimy to operate this way.
We need the domain renewed for what it should have been which is $18, and only $18…and we need this ASAP.
Please respond right away and let us know how to do this.

Hi there,
Please explain why the billing was through the end of May for the renewal if it renewed for one year. The timeframe and math doesn’t add up.
Auto-renewals happen one month prior to expiration (original purchase 05/30/2019, autorenewal 04/30/2020), but the subscription is updated to one year out from the previous expiration date (05/30/2021). So, you received notification 2 days before renewal that you will be charged. When you get charged, it will extend your subscription one year from the expiration date.
We charge a month ahead to avoid any potential issues that may arise when charging your card (expired card, processing error, etc.) If we charged your card on the upgrade expiration date and an error occurred, it might take days to rectify the issue.
However, the upgrade was canceled on 4/30 and both the plan and the domain subscriptions were deactivated. This information was emailed to you and is explained on our support page:

The domain and theme/hosting was lumped into one invoice not giving us the opportunity to renew just the domain.
We understand that you are just following protocol, but it seems extremely slimy to operate this way.
There was an option to remove the plan upgrade with your account while maintaining your domain subscription:

We need the domain renewed for what it should have been which is $18, and only $18…and we need this ASAP.
I have sent you a manual payment for the $18 via email. Please make the purchase and post back in this thread. Then, I will immediately restore the domain for you.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi there, I didn’t see a response here, but we just heard about this being paid.
We’re reaching out to the registrar now to get the domain back for you, and will contact you once everything is restored. Please allow about 1-2 business days for that.
Cheers!

Hi there!
The Domain, csm-accounting.com has been restored and is operational in your account. However, because of the restoration process, the domain is in a 365-day transfer lock that will expire on 07-14-2021.
In the meantime, instead of transferring consider, mapping the domain. Mapping allows you to keep the domain hosted at WordPress.com but points the domain wherever you need it to be pointed.
Then once the transfer lock is released, you can transfer the domain to the new hosting provider.
If you’d like help exploring mapping your domain, let us know where you would like the point the domain and we can see if they have documentation on their mapping process.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions we can help you with, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to help!
