Expired domain availability

  I bought ‘airwavves.com’ on the VERY cheap from GoDaddy a year ago. The domain is about to expire, could I possibly buy it directly from WordPress when it expires without getting into a paid plan?
  Or should I pay GoDaddy for ‘airwavves.com’ AND then pay WordPress to domain map?

  It’s not a good idea to let a domain expire if you still wish to use it. There is a lengthy period before the domain would be free to purchase again (and there is always the possibility of someone else reserving it before you do).

  Thank you. I will instead transfer the domain from GoDaddy to WordPress before it expires.

  @alexserrano0805 FYI a free domain transfer is included in any of the plans we offer here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  If you were to transfer your domain to us before it expires at GoDaddy then in the transfer process we would renew it for the next year (free under your plan) as well as waive any transfer fees.
