Expired Domain Mapping
-
Hi,
I have received the message that my ‘Domain Mapping <website> has expired. Please renew it now to make sure visitors will be able to reach your site at that address.’ However, when I use the link to renew, the link takes me to an ‘upgrade’ process, which is not something I am expecting. I don’t feel the need to upgrade to ‘Personal’, ‘Premium’ etc. Can I not just pay my usual $13 and carry on?
Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
It appears that you have been talking with an Happiness Engineer over email and they have responded to your issue. Did you receive the email? If so, they’ll be about to further assist you in regards to this matter.
Let me know if you have any questions or if you did not receive the email.
Thanks!

Hi Darnell,
I didn’t receive the e-mail unfortunately. It appears that my webhost has deleted my website and stopped my emails.
Could you let me have the response please?
Thanks! -
Hi there,
The Happiness Engineer sent you a manual payment so that you can pay your domain. So, you no longer have access to your email even if we resent it? Are you able to update your email address? I recommend updating your email so that there is no chance you’ll lose access to your account.
Let me know, and I’ll send you the manual payment to a secure email address. Thanks!

Thanks Darnell
I’ve changed my email address to a hotmail one.
Once I have paid for the domain, will I need separate webhosting to keep my site online?
Thanks!

I responded to this in the other thread you created:

I have resent the link for manual payment to your updated hotmail address.
Let me know if you did not receive my email.
Thanks!

Thanks Darnell. I’ve made the payment and I guess the site will be up again shortly?
Thanks! -
Hi there,
Thanks for the payment!
I have re-added the mapping subscription for lovemondays.org back onto your account. Please let me know if I can assist with anything else.
Thanks!

Thanks Darnell, I wouldn’t have remembered to re-set the primary domain.
I previously had an e-mail address of (email visible only to moderators and staff) which was on a hosted site; can I reconfigure this to receive/send e-mail using either a WordPress webmail facility or using MS Outlook as my e-mail application (my preferred route and I have an account set up, which would just need ‘pointing’ to the right servers etc.)
Thanks for your help!

Hi there,
There are three main options for connecting an email address to your domain:
1. Email Forwarding.
You can forward emails sent to a custom email address (such as (email visible only to moderators and staff)) to your personal email account.
Email forwarding is free but has some limitations. Some free email services (including Gmail) do not allow replies to be sent from a custom address.
2. Google Apps.
It’s possible to buy a yearly license for Google Apps from WordPress.com.
Google Apps will provide you with a dedicated Gmail inbox. You can then log into your inbox to manage and reply to messages from your custom address.
For more information, please visit our support page:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-google-apps-to-your-site/
3. Other email hosting.
You can set up an email hosting account through any provider of your choice. Popular providers include Zoho and Outlook. The account can then be connected to your domain via custom DNS records.
Further information on the above options can be found in the following support documentation:

Thanks Darnell.
In Outlook 2007 can I just change the incoming/outgoing mail server IP addresses to WordPress ones applicable to my domain? (currently the IP address for incoming/outgoing mail is 79.170.40.78 – Heart Internet. I mentioned that this has been deleted from the Heart Servers; It doesn’t matter that I will have lost some old e-mail.)
I’d like to connect to my domain via custom DNS and use an Outlook 2007 account.(I think that the current DNS might be something like:
$ dig mx lovemondays.org @NS1.WORDPRESS.COM +short
10 mail.lovemondays.org.
$ dig mail.lovemondays.org @NS1.WORDPRESS.COM +short
79.170.40.78)Hope that you can help.
Thanks!

You’ll need to set up email hosting from a third party provider in order to use the custom email. If that is Heart Internet, you’ll need to retrieve the MX records and add it here. You can go here to set it up with Outlook as well.
If you provide me with the MX records, I can assist you with adding them. Thanks!

Thanks Darnell.
I’m going to use Zoho to host the email. I’m hoping that I can just bypass Heart Internet completely. I have previous email stored in Outlook (Pop3) and don’t need anything that is on their servers.
I’d probably use IMAP for the next account.
What do you need from me please?
Thanks!

Hi there,
First, if you have not yet, go ahead and sign up with Zoho here:
Then, you can follow our support page in setting up your email account with WordPress.com:
Once you are done following the instructions, if you have any assistance, let me know.
Thanks!
