Expired domain renewal and transfer

    Hi there,
The domain name registration and mapping for a charity I fundraise for, http://www.ibbagirlsschool.org, recently expired (the renewal notifications had been going to an email address I did not have access to). We have now renewed the mapping, but how can we also renew the domain name registration itself please?
In addition, we would now like to transfer this domain name to GoDaddy. How can we obtain an authorisation code to facilitate this please?
    Thanks for your time.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As long as you are logged in with the username that purchased the upgrade, please check your Manage Purchases dashboard https://wordpress.com/purchases to see if the domain renewal is there.

It’s not possible to transfer an expired domain, so you will need to take care of the domain renewal first. Once you’ve renewed the domain you can follow this procedure to transfer the domain name: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/

    Hi there,
Thanks very much for responding so quickly. When I look at Manage Purchases, there doesn’t seem to be an option given for domain renewal, only a link to Domain Mapping (which now auto-renews in August next year). I’m definitely logged in with the same username that purchased the mapping (but is this the same as the upgrade, or do we need to purchase something else?). Is there something I am missing please?

OK-thanks. After doing a WhoIs search, it appears that the above domain purchased through WildWestDomains is good through 2017-06-19 and there don’t appear to be any restrictions on it. I’m able to access the site at the domain URL. If the domain was expired, there normally is an “Expired Domain” overlay when landing on the domain URL.

If you don’t see the domain under your Manage Purchases or Billing https://wordpress.com/me/billing it may have been purchased under a different username account. I see on your site there is also another user ibbagirlsschoolcomms

    Hello,
I see — thanks for your help. We have now checked ibbagirlsschoolcomms and ibbaceo, but neither has any record of the domain renewal taking place this year (and neither do their associated email accounts). It had previously taken place through the ibbaceo account every year from 2012-15. We also found a series of email notifications to the ibbaceo email account saying that the auto-renew payment card had expired in 2015. Could something have happened to reinstate the auto-renew when I entered valid card details to purchase the mapping yesterday?
In addition, we have already purchased a transfer to GoDaddy that must be enacted within 5 days from yesterday 14 Sept 2016 to go through successfully. But given that the domain renewal is not showing up within any of our WordPress accounts, how can this transfer now be implemented please?

Quite possibly, if you had autorenew enabled.

I’ve tagged this for Staff assistance. Their replies this week are going to be somewhat delayed due to limited staff availability. Please be patient.

I’ve been having a similar problem and have not been able to arrive at a resolution. I had purchased a domain from WP, but then cancelled it. I then was able to purchase it through Wix, but now I can’t update my billing information for my mailbox through Google – I have been going back and forth between WP and Google. Google states the relationship has to be ended with the reseller before it is transferred, but WP says that they show it as ‘transferred.’ I really need that mailbox because my business materials all have that email address – and I launched my business last week! Please help – thank you if you can pass this along to someone – I wouldn’t normally need such urgent help, but timing. =( Also, this is what I got from Google as the resolution – @JustJennifer: can you forward this to someone? Thanks for contacting us today and for giving me the chance to assist you with your questions related to the Google Apps for Work associated with the domain name called boccafuda.com. I’m glad to assist.

These were the main points of our conversation:

    1. The account shows up under the reseller and we suggested to contact them to confirm they follow steps to make sure the account gets direct with Google by following steps at https://support.google.com/work/reseller/answer/6182419?hl=en

    2. Google doesn’t get involved in any payment and billing situations between reseller and user.

    3. Due to contractual terms with reseller we are not able to disconnect the account unless you report that they are unresponsive. If that is the case we trigger the mechanism to reach them and contact you as soon as possible(if applicable)

    4. Account shows up that is suspended due to the trial ended.

Hi Carlo- please take a moment and open a separate forum thread to get the attention you deserve and so that Staff can focus on helping ibbaceo here.

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/support#postform

Once you’ve opened your own thread, you can add the MODLOOK tag to the tags section at the bottom of the form. Thanks!

To everyone else having domain issues…

WordPress.com staff is attending our once a year all company meeting. However, there is a team of us keeping an eye out and will help you as quickly as we can.

To make that go faster, please make ONE thread of your own and add the “modlook” tag to that thread. The modlook tags gets our attention and having your own thread helps staff work more quickly. It is very confusing to try and work through a thread with a dozen users with a dozen different sites posting to it.
