Expired domain with SiteGround and 1/2 finished WP website from 6 months ago.
-
Hi I had a domain name with SiteGround from around mid 2017 and I accidentally let it expire around August 2019. Through SiteGround I had a word press web site I was working on over the years with a plug in that allowed me to withhold any publishing at this stage.
I am now able to go into Siteground and access my account but under services it now says ‘none’.
I am thinking of buying their cheapest package and trying for my old domain name and seeing if somehow I can then go onto wordpress and recover the whole thing.
I am a professional journalist and have scanned and posted many, many old published newspaper articles etc on the WP site. However as I said the site is not visible to the public. I don’t particularly want to start all over again. Do you think that it is likely that I will be able to recover the old ¾ finished WP website?
I don’t want to start spending money re-starting with SiteGround if there is no chance of recovering the website.
Many Thanks -
Hi there!
What’s the address of that site? It sounds like it was hosted on Siteground and not on WordPress.com so I don’t think we’ll be able to help you.
You’ll want to contact Siteground to see if the old site can be recovered. To clear up any further confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. We, WordPress.com are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites whereas WordPress.org is a stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
