Expired GoDaddy Domain – How to Get Content Back Through WordPress
-
I recently let my GoDaddy domain – fashioncanadiana.com, which I use for my wordpress site, expire. When I log into my dashboard it shows that the site is there still – but I can’t click on it and it re-directs me to another page.
fashioncanadiana.wordpress.com was the original domain used for the site.
Is it possible to get the content back through wordpress at this point? It’s two years worth of a portfolio that I didn’t mean to let expire and I would really like it back so I can re-post it with a new domain. Thanks so much in advance!

Allowing a domain to expire
When you allow your domain expire, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/. Please read that support doc.If you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.
Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.
This thread is already tagged this thread in the sidebar with modlook for Staff attention so please clarify how you want to proceed.
If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

Hi there,
The domain fashioncanadiana.com was not pointed to your WordPress.com site, but to a self-hosted WordPress website on HostGator’s servers. Based on both the DNS history (http://research.dnstrails.com/tools/lookup.htm?domain=fashioncanadiana.com&date=) and our own records, you’ve never used that domain with a WordPress.com site.
Your WordPress.com site is still online at http://fashioncanadiana.wordpress.com/, but you haven’t updated that site in two years. The content you are looking for is on HostGator’s servers. It also appears that your domain is registered with HostGator rather than GoDaddy.
So you’ll need to contact HostGator to help you either renew your domain or otherwise to export a backup of the site you had with them. Note that only a WordPress export file can be imported to your WordPress.com blog – if HostGator gives you an SQL dump file you’ll need to upload that to a new self-hosted site before you’ll be able to export the content in a format that can be imported to WordPress.com.
