Expired WordPress through goDaddy, re-upped, but blog is gone!
-
Hi! I originally purchased my domain through goDaddy, and setup WordPress through that. I’ve posted on my blog for over a year, and re-upped the domain when it was time. However, I’ve accidentally let the subscription to WordPress lapse, and now my blog is gone! Is there a way to recover it? That’s over a years worth of recipes and blogging gone! Everything I see as options on GoDaddy is about setting up a new managed WordPress site, but I want to recover what I already had.

The blog I need help with is NOT meredithsmess.wordpress.com. It’s under the domain meredithsmess.com.
Somehow, WordPress directly thinks I want to use their free service, but I bought a domain through GoDaddy and purchased WordPress through that.

Hi there,
You were not using WordPress.com for your site, but the open source WordPress software installed on GoDaddy’s servers. That means you site’s content was also not on our servers, it was on GoDaddy’s, and it sounds like you let your hosting plan with them expire.
You can contact GoDaddy support and ask if they perhaps still have a backup of your site’s files stored on their servers, but if they don’t and you didn’t keep your own backups, then your content is gone. We can’t help restore it, as that content was never with us.
