Explosion of Site Traffic – Where?

I honestly wished that WordPress.com had added “Duration per page”. Here’s why I am saying this.

First of all, I actually have an old account and it’s serving as the backbone for my current blog site iteration. As you may expect, I’ve a bunch of old blog posts from years past. Imagine my surprise at seeing those old blog posts coming back to life.

Here’s the odd part. There is no referrers associated with these blog posts and nothing from Search. Yesterday, I checked with Support and discovered that a lot of these “visitors” may be using a tool that strips the referrers from the link for reasons of privacy and other possibility.

This morning, I read a couple of security related article and learned about the big push for privacy in browser. I heard about it; however, I did not take my blog site into account.

    Okaay!

I still need to see how well my content is being received or am I getting junk visits. I tried Google Analytics and StatsCounter and they’re not doing a good job. I suspect the privacy tools has affected my site’s stats.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there, so your site isn’t hosted on our servers; I’d recommend checking in the forums for the free WordPress software going forward.

That said, if you aren’t finding the engagement time in Google Analytics (try looking for that) you might check out https://www.parse.ly/ . Probably biased because we own it, but I really like it.

    I hope this helps!
