Expoitative advertising

@ lizarkoski … ‘If you don’t want to be enrolled in this program I will remove the ads on your site.’ … does this mean that these people have ‘signed’ up for this service? (WordAds) (thereby entering into a contractual agreement with the service) … or an across-the-board ‘opt-in’ that WordPress has instigated, and ‘opting-out’ requires each individual blog to manually ‘opt-out?

widdershinsfirst – Yes. That site has opted in to the WordAds as it is on an upgraded plan, and they make money from those ads. With a free site the ads are there by default.

dandelionsalad – Did you see my email from yesterday? All I can see here is that your last post was from 1 day ago, not sure if that was before or after we talked.

Many bloggers are in the same situation and do not know. It is unfair, that only a few users (including myself) have a individual support.
We have worked hard to ensure that our free users are able to get support for their blogs and sites. This is not the same everywhere. There’s a dedicated team of Happiness Engineers that work in the forums, exclusively, to provide this support. Support is not hidden and everyone with an account can access us here.

Yes, Liz, I wrote the comment here just minutes before responding to your personal email message.

I’ve marked this thread “resolved” but it is still open to comments. If you do not hear from me within a day or so please add the modlook tag as I have some upcoming vacation time coming. One of my colleagues will assist you. Thanks!
