Export and import of site. Are widgets covered.

I have recently done an export of the content of a wordpress.com site which contains a lot of widgets. I imported to a virgin site. None of the widgets on the old site appear to have been imported. Is this correct? Does this mean that all of the widgets will have to be manually recreated and configured on the pages on the new site?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Export files only include your site’s posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags. Widgets are linked to your site’s theme, so they aren’t included in the site’s export file. You’ll need to re-add the widgets on your new site, under Appearance > Widgets in the dashboard.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Does the same apply if a user pays for a Guided transfer? In other words, will the user themselves have to recreate the widget content and deploy them on the pages / posts or is this done as part of the guided Transfer package price?

The Guided Transfer includes setting up a new self-hosted WordPress.org site to look as close as possible to your WordPress.com site — and that includes setting up the widgets for you. If you’re interested in that, we have more details here: Guided Transfer

Please let me know if you have any other questions about that!
