Export and Import to the same blog

Hi,
I exported over 1000 posts from another WP blog and then imported them to this PanamaCascoViego blog today. All worked well, but I realized after the fact that I forgot to change the URLs of the outside images … about 854 image links … to images stored on another server.
I have taken the export XML file and changed all the links of all the images, but now I need to know if re-importing 1000+ posts will duplicate the posts or will the import overwrite them.
Please help. I have scoured the Forums and have not found a direct answer and Support is offline until September 19. Thanks.

No, it will not overwrite them. What you are going to have to do is delete the other posts. You can set the number of posts to show on the posts > posts list to a maximum of 100 (from the screen options tab) and then you can delete 100 at a whack instead of the default 20.
After they are all gone, reimport the corrected export file.

I should also add, that it will not duplicate either, it will only import posts from the import file that are not on the blog already.
