Export blog
-
I’m trying to export all content of my blog and I can’t. When I try to export, it results in a error and I’m worried because I’d like to have a weekly backup of my blog, and not only of posts.
Thank you in advance!

You have more than 10,000 comments. Because there are so many, we will probably need to manually create an export file for you. I will work on that and send you an email with a link to the file.

We can generate an export file for you. However, because your export XML file is so large, it won’t be possible for you to generate the backup every week. Please keep in mind that we do keep back ups of your site for you, so if anything were to happen, we would have you covered.
The best way for you to create a backup would be to filter your export file by date.
Would you like us to create an export file for your now?

Thanks, Designsimply and evarlese. :)
If you could generate an export file, I’d appreciate it very much. Since I made a migration from Blogger a week ago, I’d save this backup as “initial point” or something like that. And later I could generate a backup filtered by dates.
Knowing that WordPress maintains backups of my site makes me feel more relaxed, indeed. ;)
There’s no relation with this question (or maybe yes), but I’d like to know if it would be advisable make a migration of my blog to WordPress.org (because of its size, number of posts, comments…) at any point in the future. And if it would be very difficult, because of the size of the blog, too.
Thanks again!

It looks like we already sent this to you separately.
Did you need any further assistance?

It’s possible to migrate large amounts of data, but it’s CPU intensive to transfer very large amounts (especially the media), so doing it in smaller chunks by exporting smaller amounts at a time by date often works out to be more reliable. If you are going to import a very large file into a new WordPress install on a new server, you just have to make sure the server is configured to handle large files. For a WordPress.org setup, check with your web host to find out how they can help you with that.
