Export blog – media files

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I am trying to export my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I am getting the XML file, and the content, categories, tags and comments are able to be transferred.

However, none of the media from the old blog is moving to the new one. Please advice.

I saw I can download all the media separately as a zip file, but I would love to have them transferred directly to the blog posts and media of the new website.

Plus, some pics were transferred as HTML only, which confuses me even more.

alinaigrad.com – new website (not available to the public yet))

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Media files are transferred via an asynchronous process, after the import of text content on the new site has been completed. The only thing that can prevent this process from our end if you changed your site’s address, or set it to private, after you’d generated the export file, and that doesn’t appear to be the case here.

So if the media files aren’t getting transferred over, the problem is with the new site’s importer not pulling them in for some reason.

Please ask the community over in the WordPress.org forums for advice on how you can troubleshoot what might be causing this:
