Export Error

  I keep getting the below message when I attempt to export my blog entries.

  The XML page cannot be displayed
  Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

  ——————————————————————————–

  The operation completed successfully. Error processing resource ‘file:///C:/Documents and Settings/Swaye/Desktop/wordpress….

  <excerpt:encoded><![CDATA[]]></excerpt:encoded>

  Please help me…I am not sure how to correct this & I need the xml file in order to transfer my info over to my own hosting site.

  Are you trying to open it in a browser or a text editor?

  Both…it will open in a text editor but when I try to upload it to my new hosting site, I receive another error.

  The error that you see when you export the file doesn’t matter provided you save the file correctly. Your browser is trying to view the file and is complaining about a minor XML problem.

  The error when you upload is the problem.

  Just before the <excerpt: etc. line are two brackets ]] that need te be removed.
  Open exported file in Notepad, remove the ]], and save (not in text mode, but with html or xml extension)

  I’m sorry. The brackets are not the problem. The file works in HTML mode with or without the brackets, and in XML not (with or without the brackets.

  The problem is likely to be the lack of namespace declaration. Add this to the root element:

  xmlns:excerpt="http://wordpress.org/excerpt/1.0"

  Tellyworth, how do I ‘save the file correctly’ when the EXPORT fails with the same error as gardenofeden0924 got. If I can’t export it, how can I Save it anyway?

  The error shows up on a pop-up window in front of the first ‘progress’ window that shows pages pealing off the blog and 0% progress no matter how long I wait. Once I cancel the error pop-up, both pop-ups close and I get nothing downloaded.

  Please don’t guess. I don’t get to the UPLOAD phase since I can’t EXPORT in the first place.

  Same error here. What the heck is a root element, and where is it?
