export feature hanging

I’ve been doing monthly backups using the export feature. Yesterday and today the export button is not working for me. It says “this webpage is not available.” I’ve tried both at home and at work. I’ve tried multiple browsers, but have no idea what else to do about it other than contact wordpress.
I also tried exporting a different wordpress site I use under that same login and it worked.

Sometimes the exporter can run into trouble when you have a very large number of posts or comments on your site. When you do the export, do you select “All content” or do you choose one of the other options (Posts, Pages, Feedback)?
If you’re trying the export with “All content” and it runs into trouble, can you please try again exporting a smaller amount of your site at a time? For example, you can try exporting just the posts from the past month and see if that works for. Please let me know how that goes!

I was originally trying “all content” but did eventually try the other 3 options. I was able to do the other 3 but still can’t do the “all.”
“All Content” says, “This will contain all of your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, terms, navigation menus and custom posts” which seems like quite a bit more than the 3 separate options.
So, for example, if I just do posts, do I miss all the comments?

Our team is working on updates to the exporter to help with the error you ran into when you tried to export all of the content. For now, though, you’ll need to export the site in pieces with those other export options.
When you export your content with the other options, it will include anything associated with that. So, for example, if you export your posts, that includes the comments on those posts.
