Export Feature Request

    Dear WordPress Happiness Engineers,
    This is a combination feature request & bug fixes. We’re trying to create WordPress templates which would allow students to start with the same “base” site. When exporting the wordpress site to XML we’d love to see:

    1. An option to keep the theme choice when exported and then imported to another site
    2. Custom menus maintained when exported and then imported to another site
    3. An option to keep the widgets and their settings when exported and then imported to another site
    4. Child categories show up in the categories area when exported and then imported to another site

    That’s a great idea!

    This kind of change would need to be made in the core WordPress software, which we don’t have control over. I recommend posting your request over at http://wordpress.org/extend/ideas/
