Export from WordPress.com to self hosted

    Hi all

    I’m trying to migrate from WordPress.com to self-hosted. I have 1300+ posts on my blog and the export gets split into 2 files (8MB and 3.4MB).

    When I import the the files, only 900 of my posts get imported. I thought I’d borked the process (even after following the steps word for word). I tried again using a fresh install on my host and this time it only imported half of the posts.

    What on earth am I doing wrong?

    Have you tried splitting the content into even more XML files?
    Which posts, pages & comments are not being imported?

    Hi there,

    It’s hard to say exactly what’s going wrong — WordPress.com staff don’t have the tools or access to troubleshoot import issues on self-hosted sites. You can find some tips to help with import issues on this WordPress.org support page:

    If you continue to have trouble with it, your new host may be able to help or you can post to the WordPress.org forums for more help with that import process. Best of luck!
