Export from WordPress.com to wordpress.org

  • Unknown's avatar

Last month I requested a full export file from my wordpress.com blog. A day later I received an email with a link. I didnt realise the link was only valid for 7 days and so the link expired before I was ready to perform the associated import to WordPress.org. Several times I have requested another export file from WordPress.com but I never get a confirmation email with a link. How can I obtain another full export file? Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

It looks like we sent an export link to you yesterday. Did you not receive that either? Please check the spam folder for that email as well, and let me know if you don’t find it anywhere.

Thank you for your reply Kokkieh! I have checked all email folders. The only email I have received regarding the WordPress export was received on May 30th. This relates to my first export request which expired. I have received nothing since despite several attempts. Which email was the file sent to?

Hey Kokkieh! I think I’ve realised what has happened. When I switched over my host provider I lost my email forwarding facility. I’ve now set up new email forwarding info with Bluehost. I’ll request a new export. Fingers crossed!

  • The export will go to the email address you have specified in your account settings, so please make sure the correct email is showing there as well:
    https://wordpress.com/me/account/

If the address is correct but you still can’t get the export file, reply with the email address I should use (the forum software will hide it but I’ll be able to see it) and I can create and send the export file to you from my end.
