export/import

    I currently have my website (meaganwhitephoto.com) with GoDaddy – it’s been riddled with malware for over 6 months. I’ve paid seemingly endless dollars to GoDaddy for help with removing it, however, it’s only getting worse and I don’t have the budget to keep going. I’ve decided to cancel my services with them, but would like to export my content before making it official. My hope was to export the content, create a free wordpress site for now, and import the content to that while I decide what’s next (I know that I will lose things like plugins in this process). However, I’m not sure what I’m doing and I keep receiving an error upon import. Is it because of the malware? Sorry if there is a very obvious to this, I just really am at a loss.

    Happy to help with this!

    However, I’m not sure what I’m doing and I keep receiving an error upon import. Is it because of the malware? Sorry if there is a very obvious to this, I just really am at a loss.

    Ok, so to check, have you exported the content from the old site via: Tools > Export.

    You should have an XML file, from the site which is just the content.

    Also, what is the URL of the WordPress.com site you’re looking to the content with?
