Export, Import

    Hello. I’m the Admin for our club’s WordPress.org site, sequimpicklers.net. I’ve attended two Full Site Editing webinars and would like to export my club’s entire site to a new template with FSE, so I can rebuild the site offline and then share it with our Board without impacting the live site. I’ve created a new site (see Site Title, above), but cannot figure out how to copy the content from the live site to this demo site to begin updating it using FSE and Blocks. Can you help?

    Hi! So you’re essentially setting up a staging copy, right?

    First, you should be able to export here:
    https://wordpress.com/export

    It will make you select a site, so choose the real, live one.

    Click Export All. Depending on how much content you have, that may take a bit.

    Once you’ve got the export file, go to
    https://wordpress.com/import

    You’ll need to select the new staging site, and it will have you choose the platform; you’ll use WordPress of course. Then you’ll have a chance to upload the file. It may ask you to assign authors and stuff like that.

    Once you’ve got the new site as you want it, you’ll want to decide how to transition the live site. Get in touch with us then and we can make recommendations depending on how you have it set up.
