export live space to wordpress

    Can you transfer your blog from Live Space without having to pay for it?

    WordPress is not user friendly. I won’t say what I think, I have to restrain myself to be polite. :)

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Your basic WordPress.COM blog is free, there are no charges to transfer from Live Space. (WP.com does have some upgrades like Domain Mapping, your custom Domain Name, storage over 3 gb)

    I think WordPress.COM is fine (and the .ORG software also) – you can export your blog once you get to WordPress.COM and go somewhere else if you want and there is no charge for that either, the support here is also free.

    PS- your gripe is with Microsoft for as near as I can tell just throwing you overboard with not many options not WordPress.COM that is trying to help.

    PS – read the fine print on what transfers and what does not before clicking the GO button – there are also some sticky posts at the top of the Forum just for those transferring from Live Space – good to also read them before transferring.

    Thank you for your answer. I will try not to panic. Maybe I can do this (sigh) I hope

    I have transfered one of my blogs, just as a test (one which I don’t mind losing) but even though it said it was transfered I can’t see it anywhere.

    The blogs saved on the hard drive, will they still be there when Windows Live close down? and can I tranfered them later, for ex after March 2011 ?

    In some instances it might take a little time for it to show up, but rest assured that you will not lose anything. MS is not deleting anything, and if something should go wrong with the migration, wordpress staff can fix things and get it over here. If your first blog transfer does not show up in a few hours, contact staff directly with the details so that they can look into it for you and give it a nudge if necessary.

    I gave it a nudge and shouldn’t have.
    The transfer was done but in WP it looks horrible. I am really sad because that blog was the most important to me. My journey without my mum.

    I tried to save it on my PC but I couldn’t so I thought I’ll try transferring it (sigh)
    It’s not anymore on Live Space it goes straight to WP.

    Is it possible to change the size of the charaters ?
