Export Media Library (or Bulk Download)

Greetings! It’s small, old blog but I am moving it to hosted and revamping. I used export and got a xml file which I’m using as dummy data for redesign. But no images. Can I export, or download the directory so I can get them into the layout quickly? This would be a great help.

Your Export page mentions, “The current version of the WordPress.org installation gives you the option to import uploaded files…” but I can’t find any more. Any advice is appreciated!

  • Hi there,

It’s not possible to download the media library from a WordPress.com site, no, but as long as the WordPress.com site is set to public, any media files should be moved over when you import the file to your self-hosted site. Sometimes there are still some images that aren’t transferred, in which case you’ll need to download them one at a time and import them manually.
