export my wordpress.com blog
-
The export function provides a .xml file
with pointers to wordpress.com for pictures.
I need a backup of the pictures on my PC.
What I want is to keep a copy on my Windows
wether as Word or whatever which would include pictures tooThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no way to download your Media Library content except by creating an XML export file as described here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/export
NOTE: Your Media Library content is an attachment file and when you import that file you are asked if you want to include it or not.

Thanks
but I already went through that file
and it is not providing my answer.Really, just opening the web blog then Save AS (into an html)
does a more satisfying job for my question. There must be a better way to save MY DATA
than the .xml provided by export
which is missing pics and style information associated with it…After all it is MY WORK
and I should be able to download its view on my Windows.Looking for a better solution.

I have been here for 11 years. I predate the existence of support docs and I predate all but one support staff member being on staff. If there was another way to do what you want to do I believe I would have discovered it through my searches.

You can, of course, go into your media library and save as each image you uploaded into it.
You can, of course, import the XML export file into a wordpress.org software install and use the plugins and other FTP capability that we do not have here at wordpress.COM.
NOTE: Your Media Library content is an attachment file and when you import that file you are asked if you want to include it or not.

Note what Staff posted on Jun 19, 2017, 4:46 AM in response to this question: How do I download my entire media library to my computer?
Hi there,
I’m afraid we don’t have a bulk action button to download the entire media library — so the files will need to be downloaded manually.

Let’s start afresh:
Please help with standard export/import
from wordpress.com to wordpress.comSubject: Problem with EXPORT then IMPORT
from .wordpress.com to .wordpress.comWhy: I am here because I posted a text with pics
then a month later, pictures where not there anymore
(possibly pics copied from email or other webs)So I wondered how can I backup my stuff.
Everybody who engages in blogging thinks rightly that
what they come out with is important.EXPORT
After my initial question I decided to just get an export backup.
It created an .xml file.
That at least is on MY computer.IMPORT !
I created a new blog, did not customized anything then
imported the .xml file
but surprise, the result is nothing like the exported blog.I am refering to original merelmarcvietnam.wordpress.com
exported/ imported intohttps://merelmarcblog.wordpress.com/
I used export ALL
Thanks
