Export not working?

  I back up my blog using the Export function to my hard drive once a month – just in case. When attempting it today i got this message :

  Firefox can’t find the file at https://bookdout.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php?download=true&content=all&cat=0&post_author=0&post_start_date=0&post_end_date=0&post_status=0&page_author=0&page_start_date=0&page_end_date=0&page_status=0&submit=Download+Export+File.

  Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
  Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.

  Can you advise?

  Hi there,

  Were you trying to back your site up in its entirety, or were you breaking it up by date range or in some other way?

  Given how large your site has grown, I would recommend that you try breaking the backup in to a few smaller pieces by date range. This will allow our servers to process the request easier.

  Keep in mind however that we do keep backups of all sites on WordPress.com against any sort of catastrophic failure.

  I wouldn’t have considered my site as large, but breaking it up is working so thank you.

  Don’t be modest! Nearly 2,000 posts with almost 16,000 comments is really quite a bit of content. Well done. That takes a lot of dedication.

  So that’s the trick. I’ll have to keep that in mind! Put my head down and just go. ;)
