"Export" Not Working

The export feature will not work. We are trying to export our existing WordPress.com site to a new host/domain so that we can start using advertisements.
It keeps saying that it’s “Matt’s fault”, which is cute lol …but unfortunately, we really need it to be fixed before the 28th.
Do we need to upgrade it to a .org site before we make the move?
Also, the new site doesn’t appear to have the plugin section it’s supposed to have.
Finally, once we are able to export, will the theme and design of our site export also?

The short answer is no. I’m not sure why export is not working, but I’ll tag this for staff attention. Staff can transfer your blog for you, but it’s like $100 per blog. All your content will be there, but your theme will not be. However, I would assume that many if not most if not all the themes here at wordpress.com are in the wordpress.org theme repository, so search for your theme’s name and then install it if you find it. Then you’ll have to move wigets where you want them, but everything else should be fine.
