Export Problem
-
I’ve exported my blog and when I import into a hosted WordPress blog it’s not importing all of the posts. They appear to be in the xml file but are not importing. Out of 68 posts only 37 are importing. I tried deleting and reimporting and it brought in the same 37 posts, comments, pages as before. The author is the same on all posts. Any ideas?

It might take a while for all the posts to appear if I’m right.
Once there was a person who imported 1000 posts they didn’t appear, the next day they were there.– Lora

Thank you lorawow
Well, it’s been a day and they’re still not there. I’m only importing 86 posts I would think that they would be there by now.

Hm… Are you sure you’ve done it right?
Look here: http://support.wordpress.com/import/Could we have links to the two blogs by the way?

I’ve had problems importing as well. I can’t find anything here to help me either so I’m hoping your question is answered. At first only 13 of my posts came through to my WordPress.org. After repeated attempts, all 67 of my wordpress.com posts come through…BUT, none of the photo galleries that were in those posts. Either I have to completely rebuild my blog manually, or there is a bug to be fixed. Every time I tell it to “include all attachments” I get an error message. I have contacted support, but not heard back.

Images do not transfer over in the export file, but if you leave the images hosted at wordpress.com, and the blog here is public (not set to private) the regularly inserted images should show up.
Galleries are a different matter. The images for galleries have to be in the images folder on the blog you are trying to display them on. They will not hot link to the wordpress.COM images.
In the case of galleries, you would have to upload the images (from within the post that they are to appear in) to the new blog, and then put the galleries back into the posts.
