Export problem with one wordpress.com account

I tried to export both blogs with this account and both failed. When I click on the “Download export file” (in German) nothing happens at all. Only this account is affected. With a different account and only one small blog export works flawlessly. But download size does not seem to be the problem as one blog of this account is small and partial downloads fail either. I’m using firefox 115.8.0esr 64bit on Linux. I’ve already checked other threads here with export problems, but none seems to fit mine. This account is quite old. Maybe a legacy problem?

the export of the small blog of this account seems to have worked in the background, but the export of the big one still fails. Pressing the export button produces nothing but to reload the page.

In the meantime I could export the multimedia files in a 40MiB-tarball. The rest is just text, so size does not seem to matter here. I suppose a dead technician named //Bobby TABLES// in the main database which causes the export error, no matter what part I try to export.

The error message is ““There was a problem preparing your export file. Please check your connection and try again, or contact support.” probably as I only get the german version.

It gets more and more strange: when I try to export the small “wwweisheit”- Blog with https://<blogdomain>/wp-admin/export.php I get the export file. If I try with https://wordpress.com/export/<blogdomain> I get the error message.
If I try both URLs with “wwwahnsinn” both exports fail.

In the last weeks since I started this thread several other questions regarding the export function were answered by staff, not to mention other answered topics. Would some staff member please address my problem too. At least a short feedback “Yes, we recognized your problems. Needs some time” would be nice, instead of completely ignoring.

Hi again @cassielrandomson just posting back to ask if you were able to export your content following @maciejpilarski’s advice? If not, have you tried the export with a different browser to the one you normally use here on WordPress.com?

FYI I don’t get notified by e-mail about new postings here and comments in my blog, but that’s another problem.
The export problem is with my wwwahnsinn-blog I tried https://wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php and it still fails. I just get a “reload” of the export page and that’s it. Tried all kind of export variation to no avail.
Also tried with all kind of variations with https://wordpress.com/export/wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com . Only the export of the multmedia-files works. The main export doesn’t and creates repeatedly “There was a problem preparing your export file. Please check your connection and try again, or contact support.” error message (in German)
Export of wwweisheit.wordpress.com works, but this is only a small blog.

P.S. I’m using Firefox ESR 115.9.1esr (64bit) with Debian 12 stable. Not many other choices with Linux.
I tried with Tor-Browser. Same result with https://wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php. Exporting with https://wordpress.com/export/wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com no error message but the page “hangs”. also with https://wordpress.com/export/wwweisheit.wordpress.com. Multimedia-Export-Button is grey in Tor, not active. https://wwweisheit.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php works in Tor.
I will look for other Browser and OS possibilities …

I tried with Chrome Version 123.0.6312.122 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit) for Linux. Some result as with Firefox.

I think there must be something wrong with the main database of wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com as with wwweisheit.wordpress.com the export.php-Page works. With the other /export/-page only the media file export works; exporting the main database fails with both blogs. Same results with chrome. Tor depends on the channel: sometimes same as with firefox/chrome, sometimes the /export/ page “hangs” “Exporting” (no download either) and the media export button is deactivated.

I just checked with a pal who’s got a large blog at wordpress.com too. He could export a 18 MiB large ZIP-file without any problems. So there seems to be a database error in my wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com-Blog. I guess I need help from a tech savvy admin.

Because it’s been several days since Staff replied here and you’ve already tried from different browsers, etc., I’ve added the MODLOOK tag again for you.
Hopefully Staff can create an export file for you for wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com

I was able to export your site successfully. We’ve sent a separate email to the email address on file for your account with that export file.
If you see that error in the future, switch to the “classic” view and you should be able to export without that error: https://wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php?preferred-view=classic

I tried https://wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php?preferred-view=classic and get forwarded to https://wwwahnsinn.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php That’s the page I tried before with all kind of selection variations and it still does not work. But I think I will get ahead from here with the export file you sent me.
