Export theme and installation on separate server?
-
Hello,
I just created a new Blog site on wordpress.com based on a theme which called “inuit” which you can access via following URL http://bussetestsite.wordpress.com
Now I would like to set up this Blog site on my own server environment which could be found at my hosting provider on strato.de
I succeed to export all contents via xml file on the strato.de server, but do not find any export functionalities for the selected intuit theme.
Shall I buy the theme and also buy the capability to edit fonts/design to be able to export the theme as zip file from wordpress.com to strato.de?
Best regards,
Steffen. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot export a theme that’s coded for WordPress.com software and use it on a WordPress.org install. There are free versions of Inuit Types and paid versions that are coded to run on WordPress.org software. To change appearance of theme versions we have at WordPress.com we must purchase a CSS upgrade but on WordPress.org installs you do not need to purchase anything to edit CSS.

Hi bussi27,
If you’ve already got WordPress installed on your own server, you can download the free version of the Inuit Types theme from the theme author. You can then recreate the CSS edits that you made to the theme. The WordPress.org version of the theme may not be exactly the same (because we adapt all themes to work on the WordPress.com platform), but you’ll have the ability to customize all aspects of the theme.
I hope this helps!

Hello Timethief, hello Michiecat,
thx for your advice. I just set up the inuit theme on wordpress.com and transferred the domains via subdomain-mapping from strato.de to https://bussetestsite.wordpress.com.
It works fine but accesss time via mapping respectively connect time from strato-domain http://www.busse-consulting.com seems to be very slow. Do you have an idea to optimize the access mapping time?
Thx in advance,
Steffen
