Hi there. Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies and see if the export works then: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

Does it say that on the dashboard interface, or is it your file explorer that can’t find the file?
Are you using the download link on this page to export your content? https://confrontingbabbleon.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php
What browser and version are you using? https://www.whatismybrowser.com/
I also want to mention it’s not really necessary for you to have a file like this as a backup of your blog. You really just need it if you want to move your content elsewhere. But WordPress.com has several levels of redundant backups so the chances of your site actually disappearing are incredibly slim. See https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/#backups
But the exporter is supposed to be working, so please provide the information I asked for and we’ll try our best to help you get it working again.

Thank you again for your help…
1. It says “file not found” on the WP dashboard interface. It appears to try to start the backup, but after a long wait, comes up with that error message.
2. Yes, I am logged in to the administration mode, and on the page you have listed, simply press the “download export file” button. I have also listed WP as a trusted site, with my firewall
3. Firefox 36 on Windows 8.1 pro (says Java is not detected)
Kind regards

Thanks for the extra information. I’m afraid this is where my expertise ends, so I’m tagging this for staff to follow up. Please be patient while waiting for their response.
