Export/import only moves half my posts

Hi everyone,
I am trying to transfer my WP.com blog (jjunkie.wordpress.com) to the domain I just registered (thejjunkie.com, hosted by BlueHost).
When I export my posts from the WP.com blog and import them in my own domain (powered by WP, of course), only half my posts end up showing up on my domain. Anything posted after June 17 simply isn’t there.
When I try to repeat the operation, it tells me all posts already exists (including the ones I don’t see). But, they don’t show up on my “Manage>posts” page either.
All the while, I don’t get a single error message or any clue that there might be an issue. I’m not sure if the problem occurs in the export or import phase.What am I doing wrong?
(I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere before, but I searched the FAQ and forums high and low and couldn’t find an answer.)

Did you update your php.ini to make sure that the maxfileuploadsize is bigger than the export file you are importing? Are you making sure the posts are being imported by mapping to your new user in the new install? It might not show up if you don’t map the user. It is OK to keep trying because it will never over-write the posts. Have you checked the database to see if the posts are created? Have you tried another install?

I checked the php.ini. My max upload size is 2M and my export file is just 160K, so it doesn’t look like that’s the problem.
I’ve tried deleting everything I had imported, and reexporting/importing, just in case. Nothing changed.I mapped to the existing user originally. I tried mapping to a new user and the thing acted like it didn’t make a difference. Didn’t prompt for anything different.
I’m confused (obvious, isn’t it?).

It may be having trouble with the fact that you have posts in the “uncategorized” category. Maybe go and put all those posts into a new category called “general” or something like that and try again. As well, it is getting hung up on certain posts and I can see that it must be that (only common link).
Let me know here how you make out or send me another file with the changes to that category! Even if you rename the category uncategorized!

Bless you! It worked by renaming Uncategorized to “General.” No idea why but all the posts, categories, uploads and pages I was missing suddenly appeared. Even though so many of them weren’t even under “uncategorized.” Oh well, it works, that’s all I’m asking.
The only weird thing is some categories show up in double… or in sevens! And my blogroll didn’t transfer, but that’s all minor.
