Export/Import Question; Overwrite or Duplicate?

  If you export/import between a .com and a .org install (either direction) and you already have an identical post (same content and date) at the destination install, does it get overwritten or duplicated (end up with two)?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  It gets completely ignored. WordPress doesn’t duplicate or overwrite existing content.

  Related, sort of >> Do posts Imported to the .com install appear in the Reader? I’m referring to posts that have a recent Published time, say within the previous 12 hours for example.

  Or does the Reader only see posts actually Published on .com?

  Eventually, they’ll appear in the Reader history, but they won’t appear as new posts. You’ll have to publish at least once on WordPress.com for this to happen.
