Exporting
-
I am still having the issue with exporting info out of my blog. The first time I tried exporting half of my blog didn’t come over. I tried again and I’m getting an error message that reads:
Internet explorer cannot download export.php from my findlaw.wordpress Internet explorer was not able to open this site. The requested site is either unvailable or cannot be found. Try again later.
It also doesn’t work on firefox….
Can someone make a suggestion???

I can’t help you but I wonder if Mark’s Browser recommendation in the pink sticky above wouldn’t be useful.
Firefox 2
Opera 9
IE 7
If you are not running the above, please do.
Old browsers and new code tend not to mix so well – and we do not support every browser in every version.http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=5350&replies=29
In short I don’t believe any fellow blogger volunteering on the forum is going to be able to help you. This sounds like a feedback situation to me. Best wishes for a happy ending. :) -
ie7 doesn’t work as well as firefox 2 although it looks like it downloads a little.
This is the message I get using firefoxThe XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.——————————————————————————–

This sure sounds frustrating. I think you need to be speaking to staff through a feedback with a link back to this thread.

Great thanks drmike! I need to get this done by the November 27th because of a letter I received from a company asking me to stop blogging on my URL.

FINALLY!!!! I successfully exported my blog. thanks everyone for their help. My last question and than I won’t bother you again (at least for a little while). I exported over to another wordpress blog and would like to know if I can redirect my current blog url to my new blog url? The reason I’m asking is because I’m getting pretty good traffic to my current blog and hate to lose all this traffic if I don’t have too. Thanks again!!!!

Not really. best bet would be to find a theme on your old blog that displays the sidebar on every page and post, delete the entire sidebar except for a single text widget and put in there that you’re moved with a link to your new blog. some folks only do a single post as their last one which you should also do but that doesn’t help those who come in elsewhere than the home page.
regards,
-drmike
