Exporting

  Once I’ve saved a download file to export my wordpress blog can I export it to another blog/site outside of wordpress, even replacing what I have there with my existing wordpress format ?

  It depends what kind of software you will be using it with. Where do you plan to import it?

  And it won’t export your theme, it will only export your posts, pages, comments and links.

  I have a site using what I started out blogging with under Earthlink. The system is called Trellix. When I started blogging with WordPress I started fresh and typed everything into the WordPress format. I kept the other site though. When you say it won’t export my theme what do you mean? The blog site I am trying to add my WordPress site to is located at Blogcatalog. I do recall clicking on a blog at Blogcatalog a while back and seeing what appeared to be the WordPress format.

  Basically, you will have everything you’ve written, your post, pages, categories, tags, all of that. But it won’t have the theme you have on your blog now.

  Are you saying, hypothetically, if I could export the content of my WordPress blog it would not be as it appears at WordPress. What if I started fresh and deleted my Trellix/Earthlink site at Blogcatalog and reapplied with my WordPress blog, or am I asking questions that only Blocatalog has the answers to.

  Isn’t Blog Catalog a blog social networking sites for blogs you already have? Not understanding the export question when it concerns Blog catalog.

  Correct Blog catalog, is a social network were people can find your blog
  & join your neighborhood but you CAN’T export or blog from there
  there is a blog there but the Blog is Blog Catalog’s, blog for keeping
  the members updated etc.

  I am confused, where do you want to import it there?

  If you submit your blog there, all you need is to fill out this: http://www.blogcatalog.com/blogs/submit_blog.html

  And onrida, I don’t think anyone understands the question you’re asking! You can export your written stuff, but it will take up the format of wherever you’re importing it to.

  As for blogcatalogue that’s just a social networking site for blogs. It tells you about blogs which are elsewhere, like here at wordpress.com.

  Maybe I’m trying to explain and understand things from the wrong terminology. My original blog was through Earthlink. I “imported” that to BlogCatalog and it still exists there. And lets say I did’nt have my Earthlink blog there could I do the same with my WordPress blog importing ( or exporting it, whatever is applicable here ) to Blogcatalog.
