exporting a site (xml file)

    I am trying to transfer my blog from wordpress.com over to my new hosted site at laurierresearch.org, however when i click ‘Download Export’ to export my xml file, it is successful but when I open the new site, none of the images were exported.
    I’m trying to avoid the guided transfer or manually uploading all the images (over 300).

    What do you suggest?

    Hi there,

    Before importing the content on your new site, please try making your WordPress.com site publicly accessible. You can do that by changing your site visibility to “Allow search engines to index this site” or “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” in your site’s Reading Settings here:

    That way, when you import the content on your new site, the importer will be able to grab those images from your old site and bring them over to the new one. Once it’s done, you can set the site to private again.
