Exporting all posts
-
Hello, I’m trying to back up the entire blog to avoid any data loss in case of an issue. The Export All feature failed. How do I export everything?
I was able to download all the Media already.
When I retry the export it says ‘There was a problem preparing your export file. Please check your connection and try again, or contact support.’ almost right away. Thanks
The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff).

Also tried exporting another blog I have (smaller) with no issues.
Also tried from a new session in another browser and I get the message right away.. -
Hi there,
There’s no need to keep your own backups. All sites on WordPress.com are continually being backed up in the event that we have a catastrophic server failure.
Also note that an export file is not a full backup of your site. It contains all your posts, pages and comments, but it does not include your site’s design and settings, for example, nor does it contain the files in your media library. The purpose of a WordPress export file is as a means of migrating a site’s content from one site or one platform to another.
That said, with the amount of content you have on the site you indicated here, our system does what’s called an asynchronous export – the export file won’t download immediately in your browser, but instead our system generates the export split across a number of files, which you can then download as a .zip folder. Looking at our logs, we sent you an email with a download link for that export around 5 hours ago.
Please check your email, including Spam and any other folders/filters, and click that link to download your export.
