exporting and importing

  I’m considering refocusing my current blog (topiccentralblog) to a different topic. What I’d like to do is export the current contents, delete the current posts, and revise the parameters to suit the new focus.

  But, if it doesn’t work out, I’d like to be able to import the exported stuff and reconstitute the site as it was.

  Is this possible?

  Hi @topiccentralblog, you’d be welcome to use our import and export tools:

  Export Your Website’s Content

  You could also rename the site to something else, if you’d like, then ask support to undelete the old site name (you’d need to ask right away.) That would move the content to a new site, and the old site would be left blank for you to work with.

  Caveats:
  – If you need to put the content back again, you’ll need to use import/export manually.
  – Media can be exported. For imports though, you will need to have a live copy of the media on the old site, so don’t empty your media library :)
  – If your old site has many social / SEO links, renaming the site (or exporting, or emptying) will make those links break. So if you want to start a new blog on a different topic, it might be worth your time to just create a new site, and keep them both.
