Please make sure that you’re downloading or saving the file, not opening it in your browser.

Okay, and you’re still seeing this error message? After downloading the file what’s the next step you’re taking? Could you upload a screenshot to your blog and post a link to the image here? Thanks!

I haven’t a clue what I am doing so here is the reply that I received from GoDaddy regarding the questions you guys are asking of me.
Tell them the next steps are logging into the hosted wordpress.org blog and importing the .xml file via the admin panel and built in import tool, and yes we are still getting the error. We got the error, attempted to fix the error. Decided to download a new import thinking the .xml was corrupt, and got the error again with the brand new .xml file. You could go ahead and attempt another import to get the error and send them a screen shot if you like.

Are uploading the exported file (the .xml file) via Tools -> Import in your new blog’s Dashboard?
-
-
Do you see the error after you click the Upload button and select the file?
Can you please take a screenshot and upload it via Media -> Add news in your WordPress.com blog’s Dashboard so we can take a look?

me too!
I chose the export, done, saved a .xml file to my disk, but it is an incomplete file,
again, still… -
macmanx,
I have uploaded the error message. http://prattvillepaint.wordpress.com/
Thanks -
Yeah, it definitely looks like you’re opening the file in your browser, not uploading it.
You might want to try this with a different browser, like Chrome.
-
Yes. I got the problems when open it in a browser (IE, FF), too.
But, I want ask that, the file is sure correct and completed?
(since I can’t try to import) -
Yeah, the fle is correct, but you shouldn’t be opening it in your browser.
Just go to Tools -> Import in your Dashboard, click the Choose File button, then select the file. The file name will appear in the box, then click the “Upload File and Import” button.
There’s no need to actually open the file in your browser.
